Any tips on beating Vernon?

If it's even possible to do so since Tom is kinda tough already.

im 90% certain that you are meant to lose to vernon. I think they wanted to introduce the mechanics/charecters involved with you losing a figh

Is it possible to beat tom

(2 edits) (+1)

Yes, it is. Beat him with a full offence deck focusing on card draw to abuse Raid The Pantry, and adding weight to yourself for more energy. At 20+ weight with some decent luck you can pull your entire deck in a single turn, and at 45+ weight you do it extremely consistently. Need some luck against Cedric to end the fight in 2 turns, but Tom isn't impossible.

Deck used: 3x Feed, 3x You Want More?, 1x Drink It All Up, 1x Seconds?, 2x Indulgent Stuffing, 1x Mutual Gaining, 1x Menu for Two, 1x Fit Feeder, 1x Lazy Day (can discard after 45+), 1x Raid The Pantry.

You can drop several You Want More? if you want a semi-infinite, but you the burst you gain makes it more difficult to pick up the combo if you get unlucky pulling from GY.

I'm not sure it is possible to beat Tom as, when you beat Cedric you come out with:

1x  Drink It All Up

3x Exercise

3x Feed

1x Fit Feeder

2x Indulgent Stuffing

1x Lazy Day

2x Menu For Two

1x Mutual Gaining

1x Seconds

1x This Hand Sucks

3x You Want More?

So I don't know what cheats you're using to get RAID THE PANTRY, since there's no-one else to fight and nowhere to get Extra Cards.

I agree with the original poster above. Coming out of the fight with Cedric with 22/54 weight, a hand size of 7, and only 12 unique cards... it's not possible.

I am on my sixth attempt at Tom now and I just keep failing and failing since he's not possible to beat. I can get him to 40 when he gets me to 54.

Is there any way to make the game easier, to guarantee Tom is beatable? He can stack up to 7 fitness on a single turn, rigging the fight in his favour.

In one turn, he uses 2x EXERCISE and 1x KEEP PUMPING for +6 fitness! HOW DO YOU BEAT THAT!?

(+1)

Amazing game so far! I love it and can't wait for updates!

(+3)

Also, I see a bit of criticism about the actual mechanics of the game, but I for one like everything about it. Especially the text after winning and losing, that's some good writing right there. I look forward to seeing what you do in the future. Please keep this game going!

Hi!!! I loved your game! If I may ask, what's it coded in?

(+1)

Hey there! It's made in Godot using Gdscript.

Cool! Thank you

How do you beat Tom?

umm critique.

> Weight retaining after battles (eventhough i presume this'll be the purpose of the gym in future) is irritating and cringe

>Having a seperate stat other than energy weight and fitness to call on would be cool eg something like a libido system. Having a limited deck to call on seems interesting, maybe libido could affect that.  Aswell as that in the beta test fight i remember kinda fetishy self damaging cards with no affect on enemy. A libido mechanic that acted as a damage boost (think megaten tarukaja) seems like a good

Fitness stacking seems really OP.

>Some times the skin tones end up muddy in art. Make sure to hue shift and not just go to straight up darker tones to avoid the skin becoming muddy. Your style is really nice to look at -- even in a non sexual way -- but it is a bit bland in color (though if that's what you're going for more power to you)

>In a lore perspective why dont they just spam fitness skills then end the fight (like the guy does at beginning) with a teammate they trust out of the fight and get easy gains.

So to test what happens with vernon i set my hp really high but after hitting a certain cap this happened ummm https://imgur.com/YJVi32D

if you win against vernon the outcome was surprising tho

how did you raise your health

i went into appdata and modified the game health information, but it meant that it bugged my sprite lmao

yesss update

Hello friend, how can I save the game in the android version, sorry if it is not well understood, I am from Argentina and I used google translator

(+1)

Hello! You can save on the map using the menu bar.

(+1)

Huff man this game is my kind of thing but goodness I can't wait for the next update also maybe a free play mode for those who just want to battle without the story elements

(+1)

Very interesting and fun game so far!  Any chance for there to be "positive" reasons to be fat besides the extra perks in fights?  Or a way to customize your body type (like ball bellied versus flabby, etc.?)

(+3)

Hey there! If you mean positives outside of battle, there aren't any particularly significant ones or ones high on the priority list right now. But there are a few things on the idea list! Customizable body types are very unlikely for reasons that will become clear in the next update... if everything goes right.

(+1)

Awesome game man! Really enjoyed the card mechanics and watching those guys blimp up :D

(+1)

Wonderful game! i really love it and vernon was an awesome challenge! will you ever release a download link for MacBooks?

(1 edit)

Hey there! Unfortunately there likely won't be a macOS version in the foreseeable future, as exporting to macOS has quite a few requirements that I can't meet right now. In the same vein there probably won't be an iOS version for similar reasons.

(+3)

Oakfells, my  man! This game is really incredible so far. I absolutely love the stages of WG, the new characters are great, the card game is solid and really fun, and I love that you put a few tough-but-achievable things for us to do until the next update.  The baseline you've made looks really solid and I CANNOT wait to see your next update!

There is definitely a dearth of high-quality, horny gainer games on the web. Thank you, with all my heart, for putting a big, beautiful dent in the problem. <3

Thank you for the beautifully worded and kind words! :D Hopefully the next update will also be worth the wait.

A friend of mine linked this game to me and I was really surprised at how well-balanced the gameplay is! Also: great art, great text, great characters, great sound, great animations. Very addicting.

I also managed to beat Vernon after a few tries, but it took some careful planning.

I'd like to meet that fellow that's at the beginning again, too.

I love love love Ricky and his snout and ears. A real cutie.

Sent it to my other gainer friends. I'll probably also budget for your Patreon.  Thanks for making an awesome game!

Thank you for all the kind words! Say thank you to your friend for me, and thank you too for sharing and supporting the project! :)

I'm loving this update! The game's foundation is looking very solid so far and I'm excited to see what comes next. Hoping we get to challenge Gordon at some point.

I was surprised by how deep the card/battle system is already. I spent a couple hours theorycrafting how to build a solid deck to beat Vernon and there's a lot of options. I eventually won with a draw-based deck to maximize the potential of having high energy and using the cards that get more powerful the more cards are in your hand. Pretty challenging but it was satisfying to get through the gauntlet and see the bonus scene.

Looking forward to seeing what comes next!

(+1)

I'm curious about if beating Vernon is actually possible. I've tried a few but i usually end up losing in 3-5 turns

Other than that, i really love it so far!

(2 edits) (+2)

It is definitely possible i got him to almost lose but was short by 5 hit points. One tip I have is to use all of your +2 fitness cards in your deck he has cards that go through fitness but it takes him a longer time to get those cards also pay close attention to how many cards he has left and how many he has in his hand. I was right my deck defeated him I had 51/54 left and he was knocked out you get the it's all muscle card once you beat him

(1 edit) (+1)

To add to this, be sure to add the fitness card from your previous fight! Costs 1 less and can add 1 more muscle with full hand than the normal fitness cards.

The guy is beatable and worth the try! You have to toy a bit with your deck building and use certain game mechanics to their fullest. It would also help to save weight from previous fights.

Oh, and for anyone interested in seeing more, try to lose a certain fight...

That's good to know thanks!

This is getting really interesting. Keep up the good work!

Sticking to a theme would have been my advice for deck building.  Or that's how it goes for most card games.

Surprised that doc still has working sweat glands.

So that gym.  Is it going to be for starting defense and recovery (well weight loss) only?  Would love to build some support for that cushion.

For now the plan is that, yup!

Well okay.

I have this feeling I ought to say more about deck themes.  Well for anyone that cares to read it.  Not sure how relevant it will be here though.

Relentless assault: For the bold or the impatient.  Hitting hard and fast with no defenses of their own with the intent of short matches.

Turtle: At least half the deck is defense.  Kind of boring to be honest.

Resource screwing; Swapping between hand, shields, and mana or energy.

Sacrificial: Powerful when you know what you're doing otherwise you could end up kicking your own ass.  I guess you could call it a hard mode deck.

There's also "setup and payoff" but it's rare for games to have that.

(+1)

In love with this game! Play it often and love seeing my PC get fat as the fight goes on.
Can't wait to see the full game so that I can make my opponents join in on the wg fun ;)

Would have been nice if I could have seen the deck first.

Wish fitness raised the cap.  Just using them as shields seems so cheap to me and the current cap is underwhelming.

Admittedly it's a little awkward since this is more of just a showcase of what I had working so far. Of course, in the actual game, you'll be able to build your own decks and such!

I'm a little apprehensive about raising the cap, since there are already 14 stages for which I have to draw the various sprites and write the various texts. Once I have more time to expand on existing stuff, I might allow for a higher cap, although fitness probably won't be the way to go about that.

Update when?

I've been very busy the past few weeks, so unfortunately I don't really see anything coming out until late in January. (although I'll have some time over the holidays, so we'll see)

(+2)

i absolutely love the concept of this, the gameplay is fun and easy to learn, the art is wonderful, just wish your opponent is not so degrading towards you, it would be kind of fun if the fatter you got, the more your enemy likes you, but overall i cant wait to see more from this.

I know some people just aren't going to be into the degradation aspect of it. Luckily each opponent has unique dialogue, so every opponent will treat you differently!

(+1)

Can I help you translate your game into Spanish?

Right now, I don't expect the game to be popular enough to warrant multiple languages and to be honest, the way the code is currently written doesn't really allow for easy text localization. So for now I don't plan on doing so, but I might get around to it in the future. Thank you for the offer though!

(+1)

I can't wait for the next update I already play this prototype way more than most (trying to get a higher total weight at the end of the hard mode)

Thanks, that is really nice to hear! I was hoping I could put out an update every month or so, unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be able to do so this month. I'll probably post a sneak peek on twitter or something though!

(+1)

that's great to hear I'm really looking forward to it

(+2)

Oh baby. As an avid roguelike and deckbuilder fan this was very fun to play. The theme is also really hot, though I do wish there was some way for the fitness transformations to be represented as well on the character models.

Some gameplay specific suggestions:

- Only drawing a limited amount of cards per turn cuts down on the combos that you're able to play and frontloads most of the transformations into the beginning of the game rather than spacing things out more evenly.

- This is further compounded by the shuffling mechanic only occuring on turn end rather than upon reaching an empty deck, because it means that on some turns you have to play more slowly in order to get the full potential of drawing cards.

- The maximum hand size is also a factor here. 7 is quite small (compared to Slay the Spire's 10, for example) and cuts down on a lot of potential card draw strategies, especially in combination with the shuffling mechanic. Rather than being able to set up a combo with Drink It All Up following a massive card draw (say using Body Positivity at 40 weight to turn the tables on your opponent), the card is limited at a conditional +3 and takes a significant effort to set up, which kinda sucks for a card that costs energy.

Overall this was super fun and really well done for a prototype, and it definitely achieves the goal of being a hot transformation game. It just doesn't quite feel like a fluid card game yet.

(+2)

For a prototype, this is really well made already! The concept is unique for a WG-themed game, and the gameplay seems well thought-out. The addition of small writing snippets when a character surpasses a weight threshold is a nice touch. Very much looking forward to seeing how this project progresses.

(+3)

This game defiantly has potential! Hope there'll be more characters to battle against and maybe some... spicy action with a few of em. I'm excited for what's to come!

(+1)

Like Slay the Spire but with nonconsensual transformation. I love it.

(+2)

I don't have much input on the gameplay that wasn't already said, but I enjoyed this demo and the game looks promising!  I am personally not much into weight gain as a kink, but I do love clothes ripping/humiliation/noncon stripping, which this incorporated pretty nicely.

I have a suggestion/request, which would be the addition of underwear to the character models.  I've got a thing for underwear so seeing or having it implied to be stretched/ripped during the gain would be cool.  Of course I totally get if the dick showing through the pants popping open is the preferred intent, or if the addition of undies is just not a priority, but figured I'd throw it out there in case there are like minds!

(+1)

Oh yes, I've definitely thought about doing something about underwear. I plan on giving the player a few clothing options (they would be full outfits rather than customizable piece by piece), so I was wondering how I would want to handle underwear. In the end I just left it without, but it's definitely something I might consider in the future.

(+1)

Fantastic!  I'll very much be looking forward to future releases then.

(+3)

I had to make an account just for the purpose of commenting on this game, mostly because it only seems right after I've found myself in a loop of playing and replaying for the last... hour? Two hours? I have actually lost track. I know it's only a brief look at what (I sincerely hope) will become a much larger game, much in the same way my character keeps becoming a much larger man, while I'm barely putting a dent in Cedric. I sincerely hope that any future evolutions of the game give me the opportunity to completely blow up that smug so-and-so, because my desire for revenge cannot be sated with simply defeating him at a 16 weight points (though, admittedly, I am still yet to do that on hardcore mode). But, to be succinct, loving absolutely everything about this game. Mechanics are incredibly fun and addictive and the tone is perfectly executed. I cannot help but greedily await more!

(+1)

It doesn't show in the short-term of a single match like this, but I see the action economy of limited draw power being tricky to work with in the future. With draw power cards being detrimental to yourself to some degree as well, It makes the long-term buildup difficult. You draw more cards the closer to 'bust' you are, but the other cards you have to help you draw cards also get you closer to bust, gradually feeding into itself. It's easily fixed with some smart tactics, but the ability to discard isn't particularly helpful in that regard. If anything, it's foolish to do in the long-term at the moment. As it stands, the only thing I'd really suggest is making a 'reshuffle' option that expends energy, probably make it cost 2 or 3, granted how beneficial it can actually be in the long-term.

Woof, I just wasted my time making an uneducated assumption on game design. Hope it helps somehow, and I'd love to see where this goes.

(+1)

Thank you for the feedback it's much appreciated!

I agree with the limited draws, it's a problem I ran into myself. It's one of the reasons the player deck has like 3 different draw cards. For now, I intend to add more cards that allow the player to draw without any drawbacks, they could be, for example, just harder to obtain than the ones that have cons. In the end this is definitely something I need to look into more in the future.

As for discarding, it's pretty much meant to be a last resort option right now, for example when your full hand is awful, or even impossible to play without losing. You may have run into one of Cedric's cards that puts 2 "bad cards" into your deck. This card costs 0 but makes you gain 6 Wgt to draw a card: it's basically an extra penalty you have to pay if you want to draw your actual cards. You can also just not play it, in which case it takes up a slot in your limited hand size. In that case you can pay 1 Energy to throw it away.

(+2)

I actually mastered the deck for the MC, and he's got some overpowered mechanics as well in the hard mode against Cedric, he uses weight to access more cards and especially in the beginning of the match the MC can possibly get cards that sacrifice weight for more energy I was able to get Cedric to 13 out of 16 hit points in the first turn. Although I do agree with the possibility of not getting good enough starting cards in the beginning to win but it is very unlikely to happen. The body positivity card can also help in a pinch.
